The createinstallmedia process is beyond the scope of my answer but you can get more info at It started out a bit rough around the edges but it is now super simple to do.Īfter you have successfully created your bootable installer, you need to boot up from it. (2) after that's finished, you will use a command line tool called createinstallmedia to take whatever volume you specify and erase it, format it as HFS+, and copy onto it everything necessary to boot and install from. You arent actually installing anything all this does is extract a full copy of the "Install macOS Ventura beta" into your Applications folder, inert until you choose to do something with it. The way to do that is to (1) actually RUN InstallerAssistant.pkg and follow the prompts to "install" it. These 12 GB (give or take) files contain absolutely everything needed to install macOS the normal way (launching it normally when it is in your Applications folder, having it copy some initial files over, and then a series of reboots as it goes along until it is done) OR generating an installer DISK that you can boot from and then perform the installation from there. The only method these are available in, during the beta phase, is as InstallAssistant.pkg installers. There is an entire page just for Ventura downloads. This is where Mr Macintosh is very handy. The site is at Īs to Ventura, there is no OFFICIAL way to get an entire installer directly from Apple. There is an exhaustive list of every version of macOS and which methods are available to download it and what form of the download. Macintosh site is my go-to for this sort of thing.
